Supply Underprivileged NYC Youth with Educational Technology!
SosGamers Charity started the campaign

Hi!  My name is Kwabena and I'm the President of S.O.S. Gamers.  S.O.S. Gamers fulfills technology wish lists for underprivileged public schools and community centers in the NY Metro/NJ/CT Tristate area.  These wish lists include educational items such as computers, calculators, etc., as well as recreational items such as video game consoles and games.  These items help instructors to perform their duties with greater ease & efficiency. They also provide students with the tools they need to enjoy improved success in their academic pursuits as well as increase the enjoyment of recreational activities.

We're currently working with the Campos Plaza Community Center in Manhattan's Lower East Side to provide up-to-date technology for the children that visit the center on a daily basis.  Campos Plaza is a public housing development that houses approximately 493 families considered to be of lower income status.

The community center holds significance in that it provides a safe place for the children of the community to learn and socialize while avoiding any negative influences that may be present within the community, i.e. drugs, gang violence, etc.

It's our goal to ensure that the children who live in this community have access to  engaging and entertaining technology regardless of socioeconomic status.

So here's the plan:  The funds we raise will be used to outfit the Campos Plaza Community Center with a minimum of 30 electronic tablet devices.  The tablets will be used for educational and recreational purposes under proper supervision and will be made available to all the children who frequent the center.  S.O.S. Gamers also has plans to conduct regular gaming activities which will involve the use of the tablets for educational activities, contests and other social gaming endeavors.

Our next event at Campos Plaza will be a family gaming day, where we will have video game consoles set up for families to come in and just enjoy a healthy and interactive gaming experience.  It's scheduled to take place Saturday, June 1 2013. The event will be filmed/photographed and available for viewing at www.SOSGamers.org.  We would like to present the center with the tablets on that day and we ask for your support in making that happen.

All donations are tax deductible. Your kind donations will go an incredibly long way in providing these children with a phenomenal gift.

Thanks for your support!
