Let's help the *UNPAID* Capitol Police who risked their lives Thursday

Beloved D.C. family,

As the tragic violence unfolded at the Capitol this afternoon in my beautiful hometown, I was following closely and holding my breath. The entire lockdown situation was horrific, but the Capitol Police acted with incredible courage and at least two officers were injured.

Turns out, it was all for free. Yes that's right, the police involved in Thursday's Capitol shootout and car chase are currently UNPAID due to the government shutdown.

I spend some time in California, and the citizens of the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland just started Crowdtilt campaigns to pool their hard-earned funds to make their streets safer last week. Concerned for their safety, they're collectively getting protection.

Group action tech can be applied in the same way here. The following news sources are reporting that the Capitol Police are currently operating without salary:

The police officers might receive their salaries in several weeks if the shutdown ends, but they definitely aren't getting paid on schedule and several have sustained injuries.

Sen. Bernie Sanders told ABC News: "I suspect at the end of the day they will get paid, but they have mortgages to meet, they have college loans to meet. These are not millionaires. They are struggling people who have families and kids."

I've put in $1,000 up-front to get these brave Americans the financial help they need and deserve. I'll make sure they personally get the funds collected here. If we get to $5,000, I'll put in another $1,000. Will you join me?

Thanks and God Bless. - AF
