About
Revolutionary Pants was established June 26, 2012 and has been pushing the boundaries of community-led urbanism over the past couple of months. We wrapped up our second season of Living Plaza, a place-making event to activate the City Hall Plaza, which included collaborations with the Oak Cliff Cultural Center, a call to build shade structures on the plaza, and collaborations with local artists/musicians and food truck vendors. In September, we created the "Say Something Nice" Ice Cream Stage for PARK(ing) day, which was also incorporated at the Knox Better Block and the Deep Ellum Market. In October, we hosted Chalk-tober Fest, a family-friendly event to promote creativity and art through chalk, and in November we're gearing up for Busking Day to promote a street performance culture Downtown. We're also going to San Francisco to participate in the Design Like You Give a Damn Open Mic Competition put on by Architecture for Humanity. We're moving fast!

With your help, we want to continue to offer community-led programming like Living Plaza and other DIY urbanism tactics to help citizens become the authorities/designers/visionaries of their own communities and public spaces. We also want to grow our current projects the Dallas Neighborhood Time Bank and Friends of Living Plaza as well as support spin-off projects with our collaborators.

We are very passionate about Dallas and excited at being given the opportunity to continue building Revolutionary Pants to help continue to make change in the city, to promote creativity, and achieve a better quality of life.

***If you've read this far, we got a little something for ya***
People always ask us what Revolutionary Pants means...well, one day we we planning for Living Plaza and one of our collaborators was scheduling the next LP planning meeting, as she was typing it into her smart phone she said, "next Friday, at four, meeting with my revolutionary friends." We heard "Revolutionary Pants" and it stuck! We all started joking about it and it turned into a symbol of the fun and excitement with which to approach the world and a go-getter philosophy for going out and doing stuff. My Revolutionary Pants are on, now I'm ready to go out and kick some ....! You probably know by now, we never take ours off :)
