Southampton Makerspace is a volunteer-run non-profit community space for people of all walks of life who like to make things, be they physical, digital or otherwise. Having only existed since March 2013, the Makerspace already has many tools available to use such as a 3D printer, lathe, various drills and saws, angle grinder, welder, soldering irons, printers, guillotines and much more. Besides it's twice weekly meetups it has also organised a number of events including a soldering workshop, programming course and quadcopter hack day; and hosts a number of groups including electronics (Southackton), 3D printing (So RepRap) and .NET Gadgeteer (Gadgeteer South Coast).

The agreement we have for our space in Southampton is coming to an end in the middle of October, at which point we need to stand on our own two feet. This isn’t all bad though - our new independence will enable us to have our own space (with walls and lockable doors!) and thus more keyholders - allowing us to open more frequently and host more events and workshops!

This crowd funding campaign is to raise enough money to help us get the new space up and running including rent for the year, furniture, deposits, etc. All contributions are gratefully received.

* 3D printed keyring: please provide a black and white PNG, TIFF or SVG format image - the black in the image will be embossed into the keyring. The keyring will measure roughly 3cm by 3cm. Precise detail from the original image may be lost.

The previous payment was a generous contribution from Embecosm Ltd.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far - we're now almost 60% of the way to our target! (For those that prefer to think in Sterling, we've raised roughly £2,050 ($3,285) at this point.)
